Treating the flu

Young children are more likely to experience complications from the flu. These can range from sinus infections and asthma flare-ups to more serious complications like pneumonia. Prescription antiviral drugs can be used to treat the flu and help prevent serious complications in those that are high-risk or very ill. It is best to start taking antivirals within 2 days of feeling sick.
