But our mission goes beyond medicine — we’re committed to improving lives of children with one goal: helping them thrive and dream big.

The Children’s Mercy Research Institute is undertaking a research initiative to build a first-of-its-kind pediatric data repository to facilitate the search for answers and novel treatments for pediatric genetic conditions. With more than 1,600 rare disease diagnoses repository is delivering answer and enabling new treatments.

With numbers rising at an alarming pace, Children’s Mercy is caring for more children in mental health crisis than ever before. Our most vulnerable populations face greater risk, and local families and primary care providers are turning to Children’s Mercy for hope and answers.

The CHAMP® App is a mobile application developed by Children’s Mercy that can be used by parents or caregivers to send information electronically to the home monitoring team. The home monitoring team is able to access the information through a provider web portal.

The Brendan Tripp Elam Transplant Center at Children’s Mercy specializes in pediatric heart and kidney transplants as well as multi-organ transplants. The Center is one of the nation’s top pediatric solid organ transplant centers with leading survival rates.

Children’s Mercy is home to the region’s only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Level IV is the highest level of NICU, designating that the most comprehensive care is available to newborns who need it most.

Against all odds: EXIT procedure helps baby Farrah start strong

A team of 40+ experts from the Children’s Mercy Fetal Health Center performed a unique prenatal surgery called an EXIT procedure to remove a large tumor that was pressing on baby Farrah’s lungs.

Heart Transplant: Alex and Jaymeson’s stories

Alex and Jaymeson (Jay) bonded over a very unique shared experience: They both received heart transplants at Children’s Mercy in February 2024 — less than a week apart!
